How to transfer your Welmi account to another device

Same platform transfers (iPhone → iPhone, Android → Android)

A subscription bought in the app transfers only within the same platform. This is because subscriptions are managed separately by Apple and Google.

iPhone → iPhone:

  1. Sign in with the same Apple ID on your new iPhone.

  2. Download Welmi from the App Store.

  3. Go through the onboarding flow.

  4. Tap the Restore button on the pricing screen.

If you forgot your Apple ID credentials, recover them at iforgot.apple.com.

Android → Android:

  1. Sign in with the same Google account on your new Android device.

  2. Download Welmi from Google Play.

  3. Go through the onboarding flow.

  4. Tap the Restore button on the pricing screen.

If Restore is not working on Android: - Verify your subscription is still active in Google Play → Subscriptions. - Restart the app and try again.

Switching between iPhone and Android: cancel, request a refund, subscribe again

A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play cannot move between iPhone and Android, but you can still switch: cancel it on your old phone, request a refund, and subscribe again on your new phone. If Apple or Google approves the refund, your access ends right away.

Apple and Google are separate ecosystems. There is no way to transfer subscriptions or payment data between them. A subscription purchased on iPhone cannot be used on Android, and vice versa. Your entries can come with you: if you sign in with Continue with Google using the same Google account on both phones, your data is the same on both. Android offers only Google sign-in, so an account created with Continue with Apple on iPhone cannot be opened on Android.

Bought your subscription on the Welmi website? Then you do not need to cancel or resubscribe: the subscription is linked to your email and works on both platforms. On the new phone, tap Already have an account? Sign In (on Android: I already have an account Sign In), enter the email you used for the purchase and the 6-digit code we send to it.

If you still have your old phone and want to keep using your current subscription, cancel it without a refund and keep using it there until the end of the paid period, then switch.

What to do if you are switching platforms:

  1. Cancel your subscription on the old platform — see How to cancel on iPhone or How to cancel on Android.

  2. Request a refund — see How to request a refund on iPhone or How to request a refund on Android. In your request, explain that you switched to a phone on the other platform and can no longer use the subscription. The refund decision is made by Apple or Google, and if the refund is approved, your access ends right away.

  3. Subscribe on your new phone — download Welmi from the App Store or Google Play, go through onboarding, and choose a plan on the pricing screen.

FAQ

"I have a new phone. How do I log in?" You don't log in — Welmi does not use a password. On your new phone, sign in with the same Apple ID (iPhone) or same Google account (Android) you used to buy Welmi originally. Then download the app, go through onboarding, and tap Restore on the pricing screen. Your subscription will be restored. Your entries come back if you signed in with Continue with Apple or Continue with Google before: choose the same option during onboarding on the new phone.

"I just switched phones — my features are locked." This is expected before you tap Restore. Open Welmi, complete the onboarding flow, and tap the Restore button at the bottom of the pricing screen. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used for the original purchase — your subscription will reactivate.

"I forgot my password and can't log in." Welmi does not use a login/password system. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID or Google account. On a new device, go through onboarding and tap Restore instead of trying to sign in.

"Can I transfer my subscription to a different email or account?" No. Your subscription is tied to the store account (Apple ID or Google account) that made the original purchase.

"I bought on iPhone and now have an Android phone (or the other way round)." Your subscription cannot move to the other platform, but you can switch: cancel the subscription on your old phone, request a refund (explain that you switched platforms), and subscribe on your new phone. Apple or Google decides on the refund; if it is approved, your access ends right away.

"Can I use Welmi on both iPhone and Android?" You can install Welmi on both. A subscription bought through the App Store cannot be used on Android, and one bought through Google Play cannot be used on iPhone, so with a subscription bought in the app you need a separate subscription on each platform. A subscription bought on the Welmi website works on both: sign in with your email and the code we send to it. Your entries are the same on both phones if you sign in on each of them with Continue with Google using the same Google account.

"Restore is not working." Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account that originally purchased the subscription. Restart the app and try again. If the issue persists, contact support.

"Will I lose my data when switching phones?" - Same platform: Your entries come back if you signed in with Continue with Apple or Continue with Google before: choose the same option during onboarding on the new phone. If you never signed in, Welmi recognizes your account on a new phone only when your phone's data moves with it: set up the new iPhone from your old one or from an iCloud backup using the same Apple ID, or restore your new Android phone from your Google backup. Otherwise the new phone starts a new account, and your old entries can't be moved over. Reinstalling Welmi on the same iPhone usually keeps your account: you go through the survey again, and your entries come back. - Cross-platform: Your data is the same on both phones if you sign in on each of them with Continue with Google using the same Google account. Android offers only Google sign-in, so an account created with Continue with Apple on iPhone cannot be opened on Android.

"How can I confirm my subscription is active on my new device?" The simplest way to confirm your subscription is active on a new device is to try logging two meals in one day. If you can do that, your subscription is already active on the new device.

Important

  • A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play transfers on the same platform only. To switch between iPhone and Android, cancel it on the old phone, request a refund, and subscribe on the new phone. A subscription bought on the Welmi website works on both platforms.

  • Welmi has no login or password. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID or Google account.

  • On a new device, do not tap Already have an account? Sign In (on Android: I already have an account Sign In) — it is only for website purchases. Tap Continue, go through onboarding and tap Restore.

  • You must use the same account on the new device as on the original device.

  • On iPhone, Log out deletes your Welmi account and your entries. If you only want to switch phones, do not tap it.
